Members of the Province Renew their Vows

August 17, 2025

Having completed their annual retreats, the members of the Province of Meribah renewed their perpetual and temporary vows.

The religious of the province gathered in the chapel at Chaminade High School on Sunday, August 17, 2025 for the annual renewal of vows and the celebration of the Sunday liturgy. Those with perpetual vows renew them by kissing the Bible. Bro. Michael Patrick Duffy, SM, who first professed temporary vows last year at this time, renewed them for another year. Bro. Joseph Bellizzi, SM, provincial superior of the Province of Meribah, presided over the vow ceremony, which occurred during in the context of the Sunday Eucharist, with Fr. Peter Heiskell, SM, assistant provincial, presiding.

Each year, during the summer, members of the province complete their annual retreat, held either at Founder’s Hollow or Meribah. This year’s theme was “Pilgrims of Hope”, corresponding to the theme of the Church’s Jubilee Year, currently in progress. Fr. Daniel Griffin, SM, prepared and conducted the retreats, which took place in July and August.

The renewal of vows also highlighted the many years of dedication, fidelity and service of the members of province. In fact, represented in the chapel was well more than a cumulative 1000 years! We pray that their example, the intercession of Mary, our Mother, and the grace of the Holy Spirit would lead to an increase in vocations to the province and the entire Marianist Family!
